Liz Campbell
Head Coach
Liz Campbell is the head coach, and will be
coaching the senior and senior elite groups primarily. Liz's
background in swimming started about 20 years ago with the Bolles
School Sharks, which is one of the best swim teams in the nation
with nationally recognized coaches and swimmers. She earned her
Olympic Trial qualifying time and was able to compete in
Indianapolis in 2000. After graduating from Bolles, Liz went on to
swim at the University of Connecticut where she was named Team
Captain her senior year, and graduated in the spring of 2004 with
an accounting degree. After graduating from UCONN (Go
Huskies!), she moved to Charleston to earn an MBA at the
Citadel (graduated in 2008). Her coaching career
started with the Ion Swim Club in 2004 with 9 &10 year
olds swimmers. When Ion dissolved in 2005, she took on a
position with the Mount Pleasant Swim Club. As she started
with MPSC, she was an assistant coach for the 2005 and 2006 SC
Zones Team. During her 3rd year with MPSC, Liz was selected as SC
Swimming's Coach of the Year, and was the first woman ever to
achieve this particular award. In 2009, Liz was selected to be an
assistant coach for the 2009 USA Swimming Southern Zone Select
Camp. In her time with the Mount Pleasant Swim
Club, she has had 3 Junior National qualifiers, 2 Senior
National qualifiers, and numerous state record holders.
Almost all MPSC graduating seniors have gone on to swim in college,
and those swimmers are proving to be good members of their
community. Liz is currently the coaches
representative on the SC Swimming Board of
Directors. Liz is excited to start her 6th year with MPSC, and
looks forward to some hard training and fast swimming!
