competitive swimming. It is the goal of the Mount Pleasant Swim
Club to offer age specific training for all
of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and
developing each individual to the best of their
abilities.
For swimmers
who are interested in noncompetitive swimming, basic high school
training, or summer league preparation, please see the

BLUE
Our blue group focuses on stroke
development, and learning the process of general practice
behavior. Swimmers must be at least 5 years of age, and
should be able to swim all 4 strokes and a continuous 100
freestyle. Two practices per week are recommended, and meets
are encouraged.
Orange
Our Orange group is focused on stroke
technique and building aerobic endurance. Coaches will
introduce interval training and the use of a pace clock.
Swimmers are recommended to swim 2-3 times per week, and are
encouraged to swim in in-season meets as well as any championship
meets for which they
qualify.
Pre-Senior
Our PreSenior group is focused on
training for all events and refining stroke technique.
PreSenior swimmers will start to learn the process of goal setting
and commitment to achieving personal goals. PreSenior
swimmers are encouraged to swim 4-5 days a week, but must make a
minimum of 3 practices. Coaches expect PreSenior swimmers to
participate in meets regularly as well as any championships meets
for which they qualify.
Senior
Our Senior group is focused on
specific stroke training, building endurance, and stroke
refinement. Senior swimmers will participate in goal setting
on a regular basis, and are expected to work towards achieving
their personal goals. Coaches expect senior swimmers to be
responsible and accountable for their choices as a good team
leader. Senior swimmers are encouraged to swim 6-7
practices per week, but must make a minimum of 5 practices per
week. Senior swimmers are expected to go to one meet per
month, and should attend any championship meets for which they
qualify.
Senior
Elite
Our Senior Elite group is focused on
specific stroke training, building endurance, intense training, and
stroke refinement. Swimmers must be invited
to train in the senior elite group, and it is a
priviledge that must be earned. Senior elite
swimmers will set competitive goals, and will work to achieve those
goals. Senior elite swimmers are expected to match their
training intensity to their goals on a daily basis.
Coaches expect senior swimmers to be responsible and accountable
for their choices as good team leaders. Senior Elite swimmers
are encouraged to swim 100% of the practices, but must make a
minimum of 8 practice per week. Senior Elite swimmers should
compete in 1-2 meets per month, and should also attend any
championship meets for which they qualify or which their coach
recommends.
Senior Elite is a highly intense and highly
committed training group. Senior Elite swimmers are expected
to be committed to achieving personal goals, and are expected to be
leaders on the team. Practice requirements and meets are
serious, and are expected to be treated that way. Year round
swimming should be the main focus for swimmers who participate in
the senior elite group all year long. Other organized
athletic activities should not interfere with the training regiment
(excluding high school swimming).
